Jim

Picture
Hi, my name is Jim. I am approximately 130-135 lbs. (The vet would like to see me go a little lower) I was found wandering at 5:30 am by my current owner in his front yard. I came right up to him because I am a very friendly dog who loves people. I have had all my shots and medications and I do have a chip but the person listed could not be reached or did not acknowledge the attempts by the Will County Animal Shelter. I stay indoors mostly now because of the heat which I do not react well to. I do however like to stay out at night when it is cooler and will usually stay out until I am fed my breakfast and then come in for the day. Hopefully when the weather cools I will stay out in the run that was built for me, Currently I am shedding and you can pull tufts out of me and I don't mind being brushed, except toward my back end. I will let you know when it is time to stop brushing by just walking away. When I was found I was a matted mess and it took the groomer over two hours to get me in decent shape. When I am indoors I will let you know when I need to go out to the bathroom. I drink an awful lot of water which hopefully will let up as the weather gets cooler. I like to go on short walks. I sleep a lot during the day when I am in a cool comfortable place. (The vet estimates that I am 8 years old approximately) Besides food, which is my number one driving force I also love any and all attention. I roll on my back and thrash my legs and twist from side to side to get my stomach rubbed. I also will come up behind you and go between your legs and with my size that can be a real shock sometimes. Ideally I need a home where I can go inside and outside on my own and where someone will be around most of the time to pay attention to me.

If your situation can meet any of these needs please contact my owner at
[email protected].  Jim is located in Will County, IL and is available with a $100 rehoming fee.

Julian

Picture
Julian is a survivor. He was found as a stray, with a terrible case of demodectic mange, and undernourished. The shelter cleared up his mange and then decided his time was up and he was set to be euthanized. He travelled here to IL with Aurora, and they both settled into their new environment.
Julian is very high-energy and will get into anything he can if he is not monitored. He is also very young, barely two years old. He is very sociable and does very well with bigger dogs. My two Alaskan Malamutes are crazy about him. He DOES NOT LIKE CATS and will attack them severely if given a nano-second. He does not do well with small dogs. He has done quite well with the children next door, but he has not been child-tested, either.

He is housebroken and up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm and Advantix. The only issue with Julian is that I cannot seem to put weight on him, no matter what type of food I use. He has received all the worming treatments that exist. Feeding him extra food results in loose stool.

Julian is located in Freeport, IL.  If interested, please contact Theresa at (608) 515-4736.  There is a rehoming fee of $100.

Aurora

Picture
Aurora is a very sweet, somewhat shy little girl who was saved from euthanasia at the last minute. She and a sibling were owner-surrenders back in September of 2023. While her sibling was adopted after a week, Aurora lingered until the end of December. She was adopted and then returned three days later because the adopter was not allowed to have Huskies in the apartment. Unfortunately, this placed Aurora at the top of the euthanasia list.
Since she has been here, she has slowly come out of her shell, learning how to play and finally understanding that it is okay to get on the couch. She has not been cat-tested or child-tested, but she has been very good with the small children next door who pet her through the fence. She is about four years old.  She is housebroken and up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm and Advantix. She appears to rely heavily on Julian, so it may be best if they were adopted together.

Aurora is located in Freeport, IL.  If interested, please contact Theresa at (608) 515-4736.  There is a rehoming fee of $100.

Monty and Dasha

Best of friends. We would LOVE to keep them together. Monty contributed to Dasha’s emotional healing after her rescue and ideally, we would like to keep them together. These are two GREAT dogs and are self-sufficient and happy together and any home would be lucky to welcome them. It wrenches our hearts to be in the position we are in to have to rehome them, and we desperately are seeking a loving home keep these precious pups together.

Monty

Picture
Monty is a 7 year old Pyrenees/Border Collie mix and came to us from Loveland, CO where we rescued him after his mom (a resident junkyard Pyrenees) had a beautiful litter of puppies. Monty won our hearts with his adorable 8-week puppy breath and his ‘half-tail’. We have had Monty his whole life and he is a dream. He is very smart, very methodical, has herding tendencies and will let you know when things need your attention, and loves the finer things in life (i.e., wild caught salmon and the best of cheeses that we sometimes share with him). He is leash trained, house trained, great with kids, neutered, rabies up to date, no skin allergies, no hip issues, no other health issues. He has had no incidents involving dogs/people. He is best friend to Dasha (below) and has been with Dasha for the last 6 years.

Age and Birthday: 7 years old (Feb 16)
Personality: Cheery, happy, best guard dog and aware of ALL surroundings, loves belly scratches, very fast runner, his human character would be a very well-dressed, cheery, somewhat vain distinguished gentleman.

If you are interested in Monty please contact [email protected].

Dasha

Picture
Dasha is a 7 year old malamute/husky mix and came to us from IAMRA and we adopted her when she was about a year old. She came with a lot of hesitation towards male dogs and Monty had to win her over slowly with many walks on leashes together prior to her coming home with us. She had been in less-than-ideal situations before she came to us and had some difficulty with male dogs and men in general, she was heavily guarded and did not do well with kids. She is a DIFFERENT dog now and has been for about 5 years. She is extremely cuddly, regularly climbs up gracefully under our neck while we are on the couch, looks at us with her beautiful eyes and cuddles. She is great with our 3-year-old boy, extremely gentle. She is very independent, only barks at certain situations (would not rely on her to be a guard dog) and is VERY clean. In fact, she reminds us of a cat sometimes with how much she grooms herself. Dasha is house trained, leash trained (still pulls in the winter if she is very excited to be out), spayed, rabies updated, no health issues, no skin allergies, or hip issues. She has had no incidents with dogs/people. She used to jump our fence, but we mitigated this with attaching a 45 degree PVC pipes and chicken wire to the top of the fence. She is a husky after all and a great escape artist at heart. Not sure if she would still be jumping with her older age now.

Age and Birthday: 7 years old (Feb 17)
Personality: Independent, affectionate, pack dog, loves to flaunt her beauty belly up, great runner/ graceful jumper of fences, her human character would be a super pretty, quietly strong influencer that gets her way with minimal effort.

Monty and Dasha are located in the Chicago area. If you are interested in Dasha please fill out an application through IAMRA
